Fundamentals/Legal Texts:

The new Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) primarily contains information on accessibility requirements for products and services, including certain websites, apps, and online shops. It adapts the existing accessibility requirements for products and services from the Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV), the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and the Disability Equality Act (BGG) to Directive 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 17, 2019.

Websites that provide services (e.g., through webshops, contact forms, appointment booking masks) must be designed to be accessible in the future. The basis for this is EN 301 549, which refers to the international standard "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1". EN 301 549 prescribes, among other things:
Publication of an accessible "Accessibility Statement" on the website with the following content:
- Information on how accessibility is ensured
- Information on the parts of the website that are (not yet) accessible
- Contact option through which an accessibility barrier can be reported.
